Coaching Methodology

Dr. Julia Matthews has been coaching key leaders and senior level executives for more than 15 years to help maximize their professional potential.  She developed the coaching model to depict her coaching process and its components.  Initially, specific methods are used to gather data in order for leaders to understand their personality style and how their words, actions and behaviors are being perceived by others in the organization.

Information is typically collected through assessments, shadowing (behavior observation), 360-degree feedback surveys and organizational interviews.  This data enables the leader to strengthen self-insight and raises awareness.  Executive coaching serves as a customized and personalized intervention when there is a need to increase effectiveness or accelerate development in a leadership competency such as: improving relationships, motivating others, communication or inspiring trust.

Leadership Coaching typically involves skill building, application of new tools and techniques, managing perceptions, role-plays, preparing for key events and debriefing relevant, real life experiences.

Dr. Matthews describes success when she and the leader are able to engage in open and honest dialogue comprised of the 4-Cs—credibility, candor, chemistry and caring, hence striving for deeper meaning and sustained behavioral change.
